Curating Engagement with Design

Dissonance between the architectural discipline’s internal evaluative strategies and external expectations of the field leave architecture acting in a space of irrelevance, without influence over the publics served and affected by architecture. This detachment can be remediated through the implementation of open source design, engaging the virtual and physical aspects of humans and architecture. The architect becomes a curator of interactive process frameworks which allow disparate individuals to provide input while also influencing the choices of users. Digital participatory strategies can be used to mend the gap between avant garde and kitsch, enabling architecture to become relevant through its engagement in the processes of our techno-cultural society.
